Vitamin D
How is Vitamin D important to your oral health?
Vitamin D is associated with bone health, development and growth. Lack of Vitamin D may delay eruption of baby and adult teeth. Deficiency can also lead to loss of tooth structure and developmental anomalies of the dentin and enamel. This can lead to softening of teeth, malocclusion and higher risk for cavities. Bone loss from deficiencies can lead to periodontal disease and tooth mobility and increased dental pockets and bleeding gums. Lack of vitamin d is also associated with increased risk of oral candidiasis.
